Virtual Visits for 2020

Many are concerned about the safety of a traditional visit with Santa, especially with the possibility of COVID-19 infecting the family. To accommodate virtual visits and automate the scheduling process, I have teamed with a notable photographer, Larry Hershberger, who has created a platform http://www.HowToSaveChristmas.com to provide a virtual video visit as well as if desired traditional photos with the children in the photo with Santa.   I have set some times aside and you can use this link to book a virtual visit with me for one of those slots. If you do not see a time that works for you, please drop me a note and I will be in contact with you and see if that time is available as I have not opened up all hours to start with. To book me, or see what times I have currently opened up use this link:

https://howtosavechristmas.as.me/?location=Please%20check%20your%20confirmation%20e-mail%20for%20the%20Zoom%20link!

Then select Santa Bruce to see my current calendar. As I mentioned, let me know if there is another time that you are interested in and I will see if I am available and I will open up that slot.

Vonage Users – Leave a Message for Santa

When you were growing up, wouldn’t it have been great if you could talk to Santa? This year, the man in red is just a phone call away. So your kids can tell Santa himself what they want for Christmas.
Now through Christmas Eve, they can leave Santa a message by calling 1-700-CALL-SANTA (1-700-225-5726) for free, from any Vonage home phone.
They’ll hear a holiday greeting from Santa in his workshop at the North Pole. We’ll also email you a recording of your child’s wish list that you can share with family and friends. It’s a great way to make memories and spread holiday cheer.
The Santa Hotline - 1. Call 1-700-CALL-SANTA (Toll-Free) 2. Your child leaves a message for Santa 3. We email you a recording of your child's message
The fun continues on Christmas Eve. Starting at 5 p.m. EST on December 24, your family can call 1-700-CALL-SANTA to follow Santa and his reindeer on their journey, as they deliver gifts around the world.

Reindeer Getting Ready for Christmas

The weather channel was able to capture a video of the Reindeer feasting on some lichens under the snow.  Only 41 days until Christmas so time to fatten up before our big trip.  Rudolph and I will be traveling to Atlanta and he always enjoys eating fresh grass when we visit the Atlanta area.

Looking for a Gift for a 11 or 12 Year Old?

Sphero SPRK+ STEAM Educational Robot

Need a gift for a 11 or 12 year old who loves technology?  This gift may be just the right choice for that preteen and it is not just a toy or a game but a gift that will teach kids the fundamentals of programming.   Many STEAM (Science Technology Engineering Arts Math) programs are actually using these in class so this will allow the student to master what at home what they are learning at school.

The Sphero SPRK is a clear round ball that lets the preteen see what they are controlling.  A Bluetooth interface allows the Sphero to be controlled by compatible phones or tablets . If your preteen saw BB8 last year and you held off getting them one then this is a great substitute that will teach them more about how to control a robot to navigate a maze, swim across the water, or do a little dance.

Check out the Sphero site to learn more about this educational tool or see a video of the Sphero SPRK+ in action.   http://www.sphero.com/sprk-plus

Cookies for Santa?

Cute video.  Why not set out something different for Santa this year.  If the children ask why bacon?  Just show them this video.

School Visits Underway

This is almost the end of the second week of my Christmas season.  The past two weeks have been full with preschool visits in the Cumming, Sugar Hill, and Buford area.  A photo shoot in Holly Springs, and a visit to Windermere rounded out my visits.

It’s not to late to schedule a home visit for this season!  Check my calendar using this link Santa’s Calendar for now since my calendar page has some issues as they are updating the software.  December – Really?

When I arrive at your home it will be in my motorized (Honda FIT) Rudolph sleigh.

Create \”Nice List\” certificates for your children

I use Blue Mountain electronic cards all of the time as I have family spread from the extreme Southeast to the extreme Northwest.  They are always coming out with new cards that are perfect for birthdays, anniversaries, and whatever.  I just happened to be searching and found some interest items in their printable collection.  I have been a long time Hallmark user for printable cards and really like them but this appears to be just about as easy to use.

The card I thought you might find interesting for Christmas is a “Nice List Certificate” that you can create and print online.  Looks like they currently have a problem printing from Chrome, so you may need to use a different browser.

My thought was to begin the season with letting your children know they are on the “Nice List”.  Perhaps  have your elf bring it with them when they come around Thanksgiving.  You could even spell out some good deeds that Santa and your elf would like to see them work on as they experience the meaning of Christmas.

You can check out the “Nice List Certificate” at this link: http://www.bluemountain.com/printable-cards/christmas/nice-list-certificate/card-3170689

Thinking About an Elf for Your Child?

Free Introduction Letter for Your New Elf

Elf visit for Christmas
Children really want elves and they can be lots of fun!w4nd3rl0st (InspiredinDesMoines) / Foter.com / CC BY-NC-ND

Elves are very popular with children, so much so that Santa has to ask about how many elves and what are their names.  If you are thinking about getting an elf for the first time or about another elf then perhaps you would like a letter from Santa introducing your new elf.  The letter gives some background about your elf and what the children might expect.  Santa signed the letter and the address is from Santa’s Desk.  The letter is in an Adobe PDF format form where you can add the name of your child.  Just download the file, open the PDF, click in the “TO:”  field and enter the name(s) of the child or family.

I will be adding new files over time which will include “Nice Certificates” from your elf, “Need to Try Harder”, and many other letters you can use to keep the magic of Christmas alive.  In an upcoming post I will also give information on how you can create your own letter from Santa and have the USPS deliver it with a North Pole postmark.
